“In spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart.” -Anne Frank
This quote is just about the only thing keeping me grounded right now. It is truly a strange and absolutely horrifying time to be alive- guns, sexual assault, the possibility of nuclear war. It’s nearly impossible not to live in fear.
But while practicing yoga today, this quote- my absolute favorite quote- replayed itself over and over again in my mind. Anne Frank is my beacon of inspiration. Her bravery and unwavering faith in humanity despite the horrible forces that ultimately defeated her remind me that I cannot solely focus on the negative things going on around me.
If we hope to end all of the hate that is contributing to the toxic and catastrophic world we live in, we have to keep looking forward. Human beings are essentially good, just flawed. Humans do evil things, but at their core, they are not evil. It is these words that we must make our mantras. We must live by this idea to not only keep from going mad, but to make this world a more secure and comfortable place for us and those after us to live in.
