August Favorites

Since August is about to end, I decided I would do my very first monthly favorites blog posts! Although I blog often about pressing issues, it’s nice to take a step back and just reflect on the things I enjoyed in August in an attempt to preserve the memories each month brings.

Skirts- I recently acquired a jean skirt and a suede skirt, beginning my love for skirts. Though a day of keeping your legs shut tight at school, trying not to flash anyone, can be uncomfortable, they make me feel cute. 🙂

Chokers- I freaking love chokers and have made them a regular part of my wardrobe. I have a choker with a gem on it, a choker with a crystal on it, and a choker with a moon on it. Chokers are great. Tight, but great.

Head wraps/bands- These always look good with just about any outfit and make a boring outfit interesting. Perfect accessory!

Crazy socks & Birkenstocks- While I was at Duke, I copped two pairs of crew socks. One that has mermaids on them, and one that says “Cute but psycho…but cute” on them. Crew socks pair perfectly with some Birks. Now add a big T-shirt into that combination. Lit.

Kylie Cosmetics Matte Liquid Lipstick (Color: Leo)- One of my best friends got me a Kylie Lip Kit as a VERY generous gift and I’ve fallen in love with it. It’s so poppin’ and perfect for any night out.

Hunter boots- Summer in Florida is quite rainy, and the best way to survive it is by wearing some Hunter rain boots. With these, I can tackle any puddle.

Gossip Girl- I am so guilty of re-watching my absolute favorite middle school Netflix series. But it’s so damn good and once you start watching it’s impossible to stop. I’ve even gotten my two best guy friends to watch it religiously, so yeah, it’s that good.

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt– The second season was added to Netflix recently, so naturally, I had to watch it. I’ve been consumed by Gossip Girl, so I haven’t been able to finish the season, but it’s so cute and funny, as expected.

Grey’s Anatomy– I’ve finally succumbed to watching this trendy show, but I’m very glad I did. It’s been a great learning experience and I think I’m ready to perform a surgery now. Also, who knew such drama could occur at a hospital?

Puppies Tampa- So I took a little trip to the puppy adoption store with my best friends and I FELL IN LOVE. People visit the puppies at this place quite often, but I had never gone before. These puppies were so cute and playful. I found a Wheaton Terrier puppy there, which is the type of dog I own, and I carried it around for an hour. It was great.

The Beach Tampa- Though I did not get a chance to visit the actual ocean in the month of August, I was able to visit The Beach Tampa, an architectural installation featuring a ball pit filled with 1.2 million white balls, made to look like the ocean. It was really difficult to maneuver around the ball pit, but fun nevertheless.

Ballast Point Park- I’ve since grown out of the game Pokemon Go, but I spent a fair share of time there hunting for Pokemon. I found three Pikachus there, so I’d say it was pretty successful.

Arcades- I have a thing for arcades. It’s a perfect location for a date night and loads of fun. But be careful, because before you know it, you’ll have thrown fifty dollars down the drain. It’s addicting, I swear.

Slurpees in Beach Pales- A friend and I have discovered a new and improved way to eat slurpees. Ditch those plastic cups and straws for a beach pale and shovel. This came about on 711’s Bring Your Own Cup Day. We decided to get creative with it and purchased Finding Dory and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle pales. It was such a cute and fun way to eat a slurpee and I highly recommend it.

Smoothies- After a long day of school, an Xtreme Juice smoothie has been my go-to after-school boost. There is nothing more refreshing than a fruit smoothie, especially when it’s this hot outside.

Gluten-Free Pizza- I’ve been trying my best to avoid gluten in an attempt to be healthy, but pizza is something I could just not give up. So I made a compromise. And it’s been surprisingly pleasant. Gluten-free pizza tastes just like gluten-filled pizza! Obviously eating pizza, whether it has gluten or not, isn’t exactly healthy, but opting for gluten-free is still better.

Mexican Food- Whether it’s Moe’s, Chipotle, or Tijuana Flats, I’ve probably had Mexican food at least once a week. It is my absolute favorite type of food and I can never get sick of it. I could eat it every day if I had to.

Hibachi- I ALSO LOVE HIBACHI. Watching the chef make the food right before your eyes is always entertaining, but the food itself is so, so amazing. And also makes for great leftovers.
